September 11th Thoughts
Winning design for ground zero - The Freedom Tower. Set to be completed between 2008 and 2010. 1,776ft (1776 - America wins independence from Britain) high. Including the long lighted arm (representative of the Statue of Liberty's Torch) it will rise to a total of 2,000ft. It will be the tallest building in the world.
I believe that September 11th is way over publicized and exposed for what it's really supposed to be about...showing of the most basic of human feelings: compassion, for people who lost their lives brutally in a mass of 3,047. I, personally, do not know a single person who died in the attacks, but, yet, every time I watch the footage of the planes slicing into each of the towers, I feel a sense of total and utter helplessness...knowing that so many have died and will die...knowing that the tower will crumble...knowing that souls will be shattered...knowing that the world will never be the same. I think now is also an appropriate time to acknowledge those who die brutally everyday for no reason, or even for a supposed motive. Those who's souls were ripped from their flesh in Russia with the crash of two airliners, the taking of hostages and murders of women and children in the southern Russian school (Beslan)...these are not acceptable to human beings. It outrages and perturbs me to see that our species kills off other members of our species everyday at an incredible rate over asinine bullshit such as jealousy and unforgiven debts. It's not even this that makes me the most upset...it's that the "people" who are in charge of carrying out major orders and commands have their heads in other places and don't take charge ENOUGH to make a change. It is saddening to realize that there is practically nothing the American people to do about it. We have been suckered into believing all our lives that America is the freest country whereas Canada has actually surpassed us in literal freedoms and basic services...i.e. - health insurance. It's not our fault that we get sick and ill and if there's something that can make the pain go away but we have to WORK TO PAY FOR IT!...that's just as asinine. Sorry for straying off the subject, but fuming is something I rarely do and I just happened to pick tonight to do it. Here's to all those who have ever had their lives taken away from them unwillingly...
